EAS Continues to the end of May

Our EAS class has been going strong this past fall  and winter. We will have 3 more monthly intakes before the class ends for the summer.

EAS Classroom has resumed

The EAS classroom program is in its second month of the fall term. There will be 8 monthly classroom intakes through to May of 2016.

The 20 days classroom program is intended for adults with learning obstacles* and focuses on upgrading workplace literacy skills to help unemployed or underemployed individuals obtain lasting employment. 

Specific topics that will be addressed over the month will include:

Workplace literacy skills
- Communication
- Computers
- Reading skills and strategies
- Mathematics skills and strategies

Employment-related topics could include:
- Resume development
- Job coaching and job searching
- employment placement
- establishing career directions
- interview skills
- information interviews
- job shadowing, work experience
- labour market surveys

Cost: free.

Staff Changes for Fall

A farewell and a welcome back.

After 10 great years with EEPS, Mykael Sopher has taken a position with the Seven Oaks School Division continuing in the Adult Education field. Myk will continue to do the occasional assessments with us here at EEPS. Good luck Myk!

Eric Fast has returned to EEPS as a tutor and EAS instructor. Eric worked with us for 7 years before leaving to spend the last 6 years working in Africa. We welcome back his positive energy and love of teaching.

Next EAS Classroom Start Date

The first EAS classroom program is slated to get underway on Tuesday, October 15th and will end on Tuesday, November 12th.

The 20 days classroom program is intended for adults with learning obstacles* and focuses on upgrading workplace literacy skills to help unemployed or underemployed individuals obtain lasting employment. 

Specific topics that will be addressed over the month will include:

The next computer literacy course is scheduled to start on 

Aimed at adults with limited to no computer experience, the course will run Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The course will cover an array of topics aimed at helping adults effectively use computers, so they can be competitive in the workforce and/or in school. Topics include:

-Introduction to computers
-Internet literacy and navagation
-Email
-Desktop organization
-Keyboarding
-Microsoft Office rudiments including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
-Resume Preparation
